Overview
Should you have a dental emergency, call our office at any time. Either Dr. Whilden or Dr. Brevet will return your emergency call and assist you in the situation. Sudden dental injuries (including teeth that have been entirely knocked out), facial swelling, prolonged bleeding after extractions and other serious situations need prompt attention and we will be happy to attend to your needs. If you are unable to reach Dr. Whilden or Dr. Rich, your local hospital emergency room should be able to assist you in cases of extreme, immediate emergency.

Lost Tooth
Trauma powerful enough to knock out a tooth may sometimes necessitate a hospital emergency room visit. The patient should visit a dentist within 1-2 hours to maximize chances of saving the tooth. If the lost tooth can be recovered, it should only be handled by the crown, or white part of the tooth. The tooth should be immediately rinsed in cool water to remove any dirt, gently re-inserted into the empty tooth socket, and held in place with a clean washcloth. If the patient cannot re-insert the tooth, it should be kept moist until the emergency dentist visit, preferably in milk, saline solution or saliva.
